They can be alarming! Iguanas hang out in yards, public parks, on airport runways, on sidewalks, alongside roadways and waterways, and just about anywhere else they can find a good place to eat, dig or warm themselves in the sun. They cause damage to residential and commercial landscape vegetation and are often considered a nuisance by property owners. Iguanas are attracted to trees with foliage or flowers, most fruits (except citrus) and almost any vegetable.

And when they’re found in and around gardens, flower beds, stone piles, wood piles, trees, shrubs, foundations of homes, garages, barns, sheds, landscaping and near pools, you can bet their burrows and nests will collapse sidewalks, foundations, seawalls, berms and canal banks. Green iguanas may also leave droppings on docks, moored boats, seawalls, porches, decks, pool platforms and inside swimming pools.
